Level Of Knowledge, Attitude And Behavior Towards Acne Vulgaris Among Housewives In Semarang, Indonesia

Acne vulgaris is a common dermatological problem often experienced by adolescents, with a prevalence of 80%. Although it is often considered as a cosmetic problem, acne may affect quality of life, especially in self-confidence and psychological well-being. Prevalence of acne in Indonesia reaches 68.2%, with multifactorial risk factors such as genetics, diet, and hygiene. Attitude of housewives towards acne vulgaris is mostly influenced by knowledge and social norms. Accurate knowledge about causes and treatment of acne is important for more effective management. To describe the level of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of housewives towards managing acne vulgaris. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive observational study. Subjects are housewives aged 20-45 years. Categorical-numerical analytical research formula was utilized, and 48 subjects were included. Most patients have moderate knowledge score. In terms of attitude, subjects with good attitude towards acne are 21-30 years of age, whereas good attitude towards acne management is found in subjects 31-40 years of age. Housewives have moderate knowledge of acne whereas good attitude is observed in subjects aged 21-30 years.
